Survey Department faced with GPS equipment problem

The Survey Department in Eastern Province has bemoaned the lack of GPS equipment to effectively carryout their work.
Survey Assistant Solomon Mwale told Breeze News that currently the Survey Department only has two GPS equipment and only one is working.
Mr. Mwale revealed that even the one which the department is using is not up to date and cannot work throughout the whole day.
He says when some officers are working in a particular district, it means that all other districts that need survey works will have to wait.
And Mr Mwale has also appealed to would be developers in various districts to follow beacons before putting up any structure to avoid disturbing district plans.
He further appealed to the local people in Sinda and other districts to avoid removing beacons on surveyed land as it is costing the local authorities huge amounts of money to have them replaced.
