Suspected rabies has broken out in Lumezi area of Lundazi district.
Chamtowa Ward Councillor, Gowokani Chirwa told Breeze News that two animals have since been condemned and burnt.
He mentioned Hede, Dwasu and Godo as some of the villages affected with the disease.
Mr. Chirwa has appealed to government to help control the disease in the area by sensitising people on the need to have their dogs vaccinated.
But Lundazi District Veterinary Officer, Dr. Kelvin Kamphamba said brain samples have already been taken to Chipata for confirmation.
Meanwhile Dr. Kamphamba says that the department has embarked on dog registration and will soon conduct a dog elimination exercise.
