Suspended Patriotic Front PF Provincial Chairperson, Lucas Phiri says that he is going to challenge his suspension.
Mr. Phiri told Breeze News that reasons under which PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba suspended him are not valid.
Yesterday, PF provincial acting Information and Publicity Secretary, Enock Phiri disclosed that the party in the region had received correspondence from PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba that six officials had been suspended.
According to the letters of suspensions also availed to Breeze News yesterday signed by Mr. Kabimba, the six members have been suspended following a report from the Chipata district committee that some gangs attacked and disrupted a PF meeting on 17th November allegedly organised by the said officials.
Mr. Phiri named the other officials who have been suspended as Richard Mutale, Provincial Secretary, Andrew Lubusha, Provincial vice Youth Chairperson, Joseph Kolosa Vice Information and Publicity Secretary for the youth wing, William Phiri, Chipata constituency secretary and Daniel Phiri Chipata district treasurer.
But Mr. Phiri says that the time when the confusion occurred in Chipata district he was out of town in Lusaka and wondered why he was being punished.
He hoped that the other suspended officials had valid reasons under which to challenge the suspension.
And another suspended official, William Phiri has expressed ignorance over his suspension.
Mr. Phiri told Breeze News that he was aware of the suspension for the other officials but that it did not include him.
He however, condemned Mr. Kabimba’s move to suspend the officials saying the action was taken without consultation.
Meanwhile former Chipata Central Member of Parliament, Lameck Mangani has questioned the suspension of the six PF officials.
Mr. Mangani told Breeze News that he could not understand why the officials have been suspended without being given an opportunity to explain themselves.
Mr. Mangani also expressed shock that he has been implicated in the matter after being accused of organising thugs who attacked and disrupted a PF meeting on 17th November.
He says that it is important that a thorough investigation is carried out so that the truth should come out.
And Mr. Mangani has dismissed reports that he wants to ditch PF and join the opposition UPND, United Party for National Development.
He says that when joining PF from MMD, he did it openly and that he would do the same if he ever he decides to leave the ruling party.
Mr. Mangani wondered how he could ditch PF when he currently has a court petition case for Chipata Central Constituency seat, which he is challenging under the PF party.
Suspended Patriotic Front Provincial Chairperson, Lucas Phiri says that his suspension lacks merit.
