The physical progress of upgrading urban roads to bituminous standard in Chadiza district has now reached 67 per cent.
This came to light during DDCC, District Development Coordinating Committee meeting held in the district yesterday.
District Director of Works Mafita Mtonga said that the works are on-going and that the financial progress currently stands at 35 per cent.
Mr Mtonga said the contractor has so far been paid 37.7million Kwacha out of the total contract sum of 118 million Kwacha.
He said that the works have delayed to be completed due to inconsistence in funding to the contractor.
Mr. Mtonga explained that the contractor was supposed to have completed the works on June 21st, this year, but he is currently pushing for an extension of time.
Mr Mtonga also reported that the construction works on a new modern police station have advanced.
He said that the contractor, Woodlock Contractors has so far received about 7,000 Kwacha out of the total contract sum of 17,643 Kwacha.
