TBZ to investigate reports of corruption in buying exercise

Tobacco Board of Zambia TBZ says it will launch investigations into alleged reports of corruption in the buying exercise.

TBZ Regional Inspector, Herold Siandula disclosed this in an interview with Breeze News this morning.

Some farmers have alleged that people who are not genuine farmers are bribing some buyers to sale their crop at the expense of genuine farmers.

But Mr. Siandula says that according to records, TBZ has not bought any tobacco from farmers who are not registered with the board.

He however, says that investigations will be conducted to establish if there could be some illegal activities taking place which TBZ management is not aware of.

And Mr. Siandula says that the buying exercise is so far progressing well.
