Teachers threaten to abandon Lunyike school in Chipata because of high theft

Teachers at Lunyike Basic in Paramount Chief Mpezeni’s area in Chipata have threatened to abandon the school if thieves do not stop stealing their property.
Acting Head Teacher, Raphael Mbewe told Breeze News that the teachers are frustrated that some unscrupulous people have been stealing their property.
Mr. Mbewe says that between November last year and May this year, the school has witnessed three incidences where batteries and inventors for Solar panels are being stolen.
He says that the teachers could have already left the school, if traditional authorities did not intervene to assure them that the matter will be addressed.
Mr. Mbewe appealed to the community in Lunyike area to ensure that they expose people who are stealing from the teachers.
He pointed out that the school does not have electricity and that teachers highly depend on solar power.
