The annual turnover for Eastern Water and Sewerage Company has grown from 6 million in 2009 to 22 million in 2013.
Eastern Water and Sewerage Company, Managing Director, Wamui Changani has attributed this to the increase in the number of clients in Lundazi and Petauke districts.
Speaking during Budget Tracking Programme on Breeze FM this morning, Mr. Changani indicated that the clientele base in the two districts had quadrupled from about 300 to 1,500.
And Mr. Changani indicated that the company has an annual budget of 16 to 18 million Kwacha, with about 50 per cent going towards staff cost while the rest is used for operations.
Meanwhile Eastern Water and Sewerage Company has this year budgeted 22 million Kwacha.
Mr. Changani also says that the water company has in the first quarter of 2014 recorded 30 per cent negative variance on sales revenue.
He indicated that the company has an ambitious programme to cover its entire costs and investment capital on its own by 2016 so that grants from government should just supplement their finances.
