The business community in Chipata warned against ignoring a ministerial directive to paint their shops.

Government has strongly warned the business community in Chipata against ignoring a ministerial directive to paint their shops.

Speaking to Breeze News, Chipata District Commissioner Kalunga Zulu says that it is unfortunate that some shop owners have failed to paint their shops as directed by Provincial Minister Malozo Sichone.

Mr Zulu says that the unpainted shops were frustrating government’s efforts to keep the town clean.

He however, commended the Zambia Police Service as well as the Post Office for painting their buildings.

Mr Zulu says that those that continue to defy the directive risk being penalised.

Last year, during the launch of the Keep Chipata Clean campaign, Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone instructed all the business community to paint their buildings.

Mr Sichone also instructed that dust bins be placed outside the shops.
