The Electoral Commission of Zambia says it is still waiting for official communication before setting a date for Chipata Central Constituency by-election.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ says that it has not yet set a date for the Chipata Central Constituency by-election.
ECZ Head of Public Relations, Cris Akufuna told Breeze News that the date will only be set after the commission receives communication from speaker of the national assembly.
When nullifying the seat on Tuesday, Judge Marvin Mwanamwamba instructed the ECZ to set a date for the by-election.
Meanwhile the MMD, Movement for Multi-Party Democracy says that it does not see anything wrong in allowing Rueben Mtolo Phiri re-contesting the seat.
MMD Provincial Chairperson, Alexander Miti says that Mr. Phiri performed well during his time as Member of Parliament.
He however, says that Mr. Phiri’s adoption will depend on the events that will unfold after the date for the by-election has been set.
Mr. Phiri lost his seat after the Supreme Court ruled that there was malpractice in the way Mr. Phiri conducted his election campaign after he donated one thousand Kwacha rebased to RCZ, Reformed Church in Zambia.
