The establishment of the Chipata Cotton storage yard in Lundazi district has been approved.

The establishment of the Chipata Cotton storage yard in Lundazi district has been approved by ZEMA, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency.
The approval however, comes amid a misunderstanding on the piece of land where the storage yard is supposed to be constructed.
The project is among 64 projects that have been approved across the country in the areas of prospecting mining, energy, processing and manufacturing, urban development, agriculture and tourism.
ZEMA Communications Officer, Chama Mwansa has confirmed the development in a Press Statement availed to Breeze News.
Ms. Mwansa says that the approval of the 64 projects is based on the information provided for the developments, site verification inspection findings and input from authorizing agencies.
She says that all the projects have been approved subject to conditions and have a three-year timeline for implementation.
Ms. Mwansa says that ZEMA’s decision can be withdrawn without notice should a developer fail to comply with laid down conditions and commitments.
ZEMA has reminded all industries of their corporate social responsibility of ensuring that environmental and social concerns are fully incorporated into their overall operational regimes.
