Government through FRA, the Food Reserve Agency still owes banks countrywide about 1.8 billion Kwacha.
Agriculture and Livestock Minister, Bob Sichinga says that the debt is from maize, which FRA bought from farmers during the last marketing season.
And Mr. Sichinga has told people in Lundazi district that government will not give them relief maize because they are exporting maize to neighboring Malawi illegally.
He explained that no one is supposed to export maize because government has put a ban on all exports of the maize grain.
Mr. Sichinga who expressed disappointment over the matter encouraged the police to arrest anyone found exporting maize.
