The Food Reserve Agency, FRA, in Lundazi District owes small scale farmers who supplied maize to the agency about 3.4 million Kwacha.
Lundazi District Agricultural Coordinator, DACO, Philemon Lungu told Breeze News today that the balance is from the 72,855 by 50 kilogramme bags of white maize that the agency bought form farmers.
Mr Lungu has indicated that FRA has so far paid about 1.2 million Kwacha since the commencement of the marketing exercise in July this year.
He has disclosed that the agency has released 94,730 Kwacha to pay farmers that supplied their maize to FRA.
Mr Lungu however, says purchase of maize in the district is on-going.
