The Kitwe High Court has ruled that the current Chief Jumbe of Mambwe district is the rightful heir to the throne.
Acting Supreme Court Judge Roydah Kaoma sitting as High Court Judge dismissed a petition in which Andrew Boti had sued Robert Zulu, the current chief Jumbe over succession dispute.
Mr Boti was seeking a declaration that Mr Zulu was serving as a caretaker and that he is removed as Chief Jumbe because he did not hail from the royal family.
He was further seeking an order that he or any other person being the rightful heir be appointed to the throne.
In her Judgment, Justice Kaoma said it seemed Mr Boti was trying to advance his own interest of being the rightful heir to the throne.
She noted that those that were present at the selection ceremony were authentic, prepared by the council and were an independent authority without any interests in the throne.
