The Ministry of Education in Eastern Province is looking for 2.2 million Kwacha rebased to enable it repair 48 schools whose roofs were blown off by heavy downpour.
Provincial Education Officer Thomas Mwanza says that 48 schools have had their roofs blown off since the beginning of the rainy season.
Mr Mwanza says the roofs need to be repaired to enable pupils to learn in a good environment.
Meanwhile Mr Mwanza also says the ministry in the province has started implementing early childhood education in 10 schools.
He says that so far 10 existing primary schools in Katete and Petauke Districts have started implementing the programme.
Mr Mwanza explains that five primary schools have started implementing the programme in Katete with another five in Petauke.
