The number of illegal foreign traditional healers and witchdoctors is reported to be on the increase in Chipata district.
This has worried Kanjala Ward Councillor, Jealous Phiri, who has appealed to government to quickly address the matter.
Mr. Phiri has alleged that the traditional healers and witchdoctors are contributing to the increase in crime cases in the area as they are difficult to be identified because they are foreigners.
He says that government should engage THPAZ, the Traditional Healers of Zambia on the matter or revoke their operating licence for allowing such a situation to take root.
Mr. Phiri has also appealed to the Immigration Department to investigate foreigners saying that a lot of them are staying in Zambia without legal documents.
And Mr. Phiri has urged people in his ward to stop taking the law in their own hands whenever they find a person breaking the law.
Mr. Phiri was reacting to an incident where some people assaulted a person on suspicion that he was practising Satanism.
