The price of cement has been increased by traders in Chipata district.
A check by Breeze Business News this morning found that a 50 kilogramme bag of cement, which was being sold at 55 Kwacha last week, is now selling at 62Kwacha.
And traders spoken to indicated that the price has been increased due to an upward adjustment in the order price of the commodity by suppliers.
They however, stated that the suppliers have not indicated the reason for the price hike but have promised to explain in due course.
The price increase has however, puzzled some people who wanted to buy cement this morning since the Zambian Kwacha has appreciated against other convertible currencies.
The US dollar was by this morning buying at 9 Kwacha 74 Ngwee and selling at 9 Kwacha 91 Ngwee.
