Lack of uniforms for inmates is the biggest challenge facing the
prisons service in Eastern Province.
Prisons Regional Commanding Officer, Paul Mwizabi Simasiku told High Court Judge Flavour Chishimba today during the official opening of the Chipata High Court sessions.
Mr. Simasiku further says that the province is faced with transport challenge.
And in response, Ms Justice Chishimba promised to inform relevant authorities about the matter.
Meanwhile, Chipata’s Namuseche Prison has of today recorded 867 inmates followed by Petauke with 281.
Lundazi District has 252 inmates while Nyimba and Katete had 196 and 192 inmates respectively.
