The Prisons Service has warned people in Eastern Province against keeping escape convicts.

Commissioner of Prisons Percy Chato has warned of stern action to people harbouring criminals who escape from prisons.

Mr Chato said this following a recent incident where James Bwalya Bolomusa escaped from Namuseche prisons in Chipata.

He states that it is always a criminal offence for anyone to be harbouring prisoners who were escaping from the state prisons.

Mr Chato has appealed to members of the public to assist with providing information leading to the whereabouts of the prisoner.

He also says that Bwalya should surrender himself to the law enforcement agencies.

And Mr Chato says that the prison warder who is alleged to have facilitated the escaping of Bolomusa remains suspended from work.
