Thirty-nine out of 44 completed clinics start operating in Eastern Province.

Government has operationalized 39 health posts out of the 44 that have been constructed in Eastern Province.

Eastern Province Medical Officer Abel Kabalo confirmed that the 39 health posts are running.

Dr Kabalo explained that the 44 completed health posts are part of the 57 that are being constructed in Eastern Province and 650 being put up across the country.

He says the remaining health posts will soon be operationalized to ensure the delivery of health services is boosted in the province.

Dr Kabalo says government is happy with works that the contractor is doing adding that the construction works of the remaining 13 health posts are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Government is constructing 650 health posts across the country at a total cost of   55.9 million US dollars.

Meanwhile Dr. Kabalo says the construction works of four district hospitals in Eastern Province at a cost of 42. 2 million Kwacha is progressing well.

Dr Kabalo says the construction works of Nyimba District hospital have been completed while those for Chipata, Lundazi and Vubwi are on-going.
