Three Food Reserve Agency depots closed in Chipata due to lack of maize.

Three maize buying depots in Chipata district have been closed prematurely.
District Agriculture Coordinator, Michael Ngulube confirmed to Breeze News that M’gubudu, Mafuta and Nsanjika depots were closed last month.
Mr. Ngulube says that this is because farmers were not taking their maize for sale, which was a worst of resources to keep officers at the depot.
Mr. Ngulube however says that the district has already reached its target of 378,000 by 50 kilogram bags of maize.
He says that FRA, the Food Reserve Agency has continued buying the maize in some depots because of the demand from farmers.
Mr. Ngulube says this may lead to the district exceeding its target for maize.
The maize marketing season is expected to be closed by the end of this month.
