Tobacco buying companies advised to use a price list for one common currency this marketing season.

Tobacco buying companies have been advised to agree on the currency which to use when buying tobacco during this market season.
Chipata District Farmers Association CDFA Coordinator, Virgil Malambo says that while some companies have offered their buying prices in US dollar others are using the kwacha.
Mr. Malambo says that this might work to the disadvantage of the farmers, who will be selling their produce to companies buying in Kwacha.
And Mr. Malambo has urged companies to ensure that they buy tobacco at good prices according to the released buying prices.
He says that buying companies have the habit to reap off farmers by using average prices despite the crop being of good grade.
The CDFA Coordinator also says that farmers should ensure that they grade their tobacco nicely so that they do not end up losing out.
Yesterday TBZ, Tobacco Board of Zambia indicated that the price for the highest grade of tobacco is 4 dollars 20 cents while the lowest grade will be bought at 40 cents.
