Tobacco farmers have complained over the low buying prices being offered by the Zambia Leaf Tobacco Company at Zemba tobacco Scheme.
The farmers have alleged that the company is buying their tobacco at as low as 2 Kwacha per kilogramme while the highest buying price is only 13 Kwacha per kilogramme.
One of the farmers, Danny Nkhoma says that despite offering the low buying prices, the company is also taking long to pay the farmers.
The farmers also complained of over staying at the company premises which has no running water and shelter while waiting for their produce to be bought.
But when contacted for comment, Area Manager Masauso Daka refused to comment and referred all the queries to the Regional Manager.
