Most tobacco sponsoring companies in Eastern Province have not yet started giving out inputs to their farmers.
This has been confirmed to Breeze News by Eastern Fodya Association of Zambia, EFAZ Board Chairperson, Franklyn Mwale.
Mr. Mwale says that tobacco farmers were supposed to start receiving inputs in August but this has not yet been done.
He says that EFAZ is worried with the situation as it will negatively affect the tobacco production next year.
Mr. Mwale however, says that he is discussing the matter with the sponsoring companies, adding that the issue has already been reported to TBZ, Tobacco Board of Zambia head office in Lusaka.
