Companies in the tourism sector in Eastern Province have been cautioned against awarding the same workers during this Friday’s Labour Day commemoration.
Hotel Catering Tourism and Allied Workers Union of Zambia Regional Secretary, Zephenia Kaleya says that there seems to be a cartel between some employers and employees who are awarded every year.
Mr. Kaleya says that the union expects to see a change this Friday because it is not possible that the same workers are the best performers.
And Mr. Kaleya says that employers should ensure that they award their workers handsomely unlike giving them cheap presents.
He says that the union has observed that some employers are only interested in abusing workers instead of appreciating their contributions.
Meanwhile Mr. Kaleya has cautioned employers who offer poor working conditions against threatening their workers, stating that these companies make huge profits.
