Township road works in Chipata advance

Seventy-four per cent of works being carried out on township roads have so far been completed in Chipata.
Chipata Municipal Council Public Relations Officer Taonga Kaonga confirmed to Breeze News that the works have advanced despite Sable Construction Company only being paid 54 per cent of what is owed to them.
Ms. Kaonga says that the only road with major works still remaining is the NAPSA road.
She explained that some beacons were removed when the road was being cleared so the contractor has to carry out road markings.
Ms. Kaonga adds that Kalindawalo road has been added to the contract after some consultations.
She says that this has increased the contract sum to about 111 thousand Kwacha from about 80 thousand Kwacha.
And commenting on the road along Kapata Bus Station, Ms. Kaonga says that the works will have to be carried out again as motorists started using the road before the works were completed.
Meanwhile Ms. Kaonga says that Sable Construction Company will carry out maintenance works on Parirenyatwa and Church roads.
