Township tarring road works halted in Chipata

Chipata Municipal Council says Sable Construction Company has currently stopped working on Township roads in Chipata.

Town Clerk, Davies Musenge told Breeze News that Sable is still waiting for funding from government.

Mr. Musenge however, says the contractor who had started working on Kalindawalo road will also work on FINDECO road and patch up potholes that have developed on most township roads.

Mr. Musenge could however, not state how much money government owes Sable but indicated that the contractor will be paid soon.

He says that the local authority cannot work on the potholes that have developed on Kafula, Pine View and church roads because the roads are under Sable contract.

Some motorists in Chipata have complained of facing difficulties to drive on most roads because of potholes.

But Mr. Musenge urged the motorists not to worry as the contractor will work on the roads as soon as he is paid the money.
