Traders in Chipata have expressed anger at ZESCO’s delay to rectify the problem which has plunged most parts of the district into darkness.
This is the sixth day Chipata district is facing a serious power problem from the time a ZESCO transformer developed a fault.
Traders at Kapata and Saturday market are frustrated as they are now being forced to through away some of their products because they have gone bad.
Butchery owners are the worst affected, as they have had to throw away their meat because their refrigerators are not working.
A check by Breeze News this morning found some angry butchery owners cleaning their trading places after the meat, which has gone bad started smelling.
The shop owners at Saturday Market also accused ZESCO of failing to put up a proper plan on how the load-shedding is conducted during the period when repair works are being done.
They explained that the market has had no power for almost five days now.
Traders at Kapata and Saturday markets demand that ZESCO quickly rectifies the power problem, which has entered day six.
