Twelve PF cadres from Lusaka nabbed in Petauke

Twelve PF, Patriotic Front Party cadres from Lusaka have been picked up by police for causing violence during President Edgar Lungu’ s visit in Petauke district.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Alex Chilufya confirmed to Breeze News that the cadres led by Maxwell Chongo went to drum up support for PF Petauke Central parliamentary candidate, Dora Siliya during President Edgar Lungu’s visit to the province.

Mr. Chilufya says the carders have been charged with malicious damage to property, threatening violence and occasioning actual bodily harm.

He says the cadres damaged two vehicles belonging to an Independent candidate for the same area, Jay Banda.

Mr. Chilufya says police recovered a 0.9 millimetre pistol, a sharp knife and a cuter port from the cadres.

Meanwhile, two cyclists have died after being hit by vehicles in separate road accidents that occurred over the weekend.

Daniel Zulu aged 26 of Chimeya village in Chief Madzimawe’s area died on Saturday after being hit with a Toyota Corolla, which was driven by Anthony Nyirenda aged 26 as he was cycling along M’soro road.

Mr. Chilufya says Zulu sustained head injuries and died on the spot while the driver is remanded at Chipata Central police station and has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

And Mr. Chilufya says 11 year old Mwimba Nyangu of Kacholola area who was cycling along the Great East road died on the spot after being hit by Dudhia Zufika aged 46 of Lusaka who was driving a Ford Ranger.

Mr. Chilufya added that an unknown cyclist with his two passengers are nursing serious injuries in Chipata Central Hospital after being hit by Fannel Moya aged 30 of Gonda Barracks, who was driving a Toyota Corolla.
