Two lions kill three head of cattle in Chief Chinunda’s area in Chipata

Two lions have killed three head of cattle in Chief Chinunda’s area in Chipata.

Department of National Parks and Wildlife Acting Area Warden Webster Katele and Mphasala Section Chairman Elija Nkhoma confirmed to Breeze News.

Mr. Katele says that three officers were two days ago dispatched to track down the two wild animals adding that they have so far managed to find some footprints.

And Mphasala Section Chairman Elija Nkhoma told Breeze News that cattle headers from Chifuka village reported that two lions pounced on their domestic animals last week.

Mr. Nkhoma says that yesterday he received another report that the two lions attempted to attack three people at a church in Kaikumbe area.

He stated that the Department of National Parks and Wildlife needs to send more people because the three officers, who were sent are not enough to address the situation.

Mr. Nkhoma also appealed to government to address the shortage of water, stating that the incident where three head of cattle were killed could have not happened if people and domestic animals had easy access to water.

He says cattle headers move long distances to find water for domestic animals.
