Two named officers at Chipata Municipal Council have been implicated in a residential plot duping scandal.
Public Relations Officer, Taonga Kaonga has confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Ms. Kaonga however, says that the council cannot institute investigations into the matter until when it receives an official written complaint from the complainant.
And speaking to Breeze News, the complainant, Thomas Nyirenda alleged that he paid the two officers 4,000 Kwacha last year, who gave him a plot in Hills View area.
Mr. Nyirenda revealed that the officers also gave him an offer letter for the plot, which was bearing someone else’s names.
He says that he refused to accept the offer letter and attempted to seek redress from the council, where a senior officer informed him that the letter he had been given had initially gone missing from his office.
Mr. Nyirenda further explained that he also found out that the two officers had again sold the same plot to another person.
He says that his attempt to get back the money has failed as the two officers have threatened that they will grab his other plot, which he acquired legally.
Mr. Nyirenda wondered what authority the two officers have to get his other plot because such a matter can only be decided by a full council meeting.
