Two peasant farmers in Sinda District arrested for drug trafficking.

The Drug Enforcement Commission, DEC has arrested two people in Sinda district for drug trafficking.
DEC Public Relations Officer, Theresa Katongo, has confirmed stating that the two are among forty nine people arrested countrywide for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

Ms. Katongo says that John Phiri, 35, a peasant farmer of Kamilion Village and Samson Zulu, 45, a peasant farmer of Simbala village have been jointly charged for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 3.8 kilogrammes.
And Ms. Katongo says that some of those arrested from other parts of the country, are Lillian Mulenga, 21, of Kasama District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 43.1kg and Faustina Kaunga, 20, of Itezhi-tezhi District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 22.9kg.
She said others arrested include an 18 year old boy of Munte farm in Serenje District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 13.9kg.
Ms. Katongo has stated that all suspects will be appearing in court soon.
