Some marketeers in Chadiza District have expressed worry over uncollected garbage at the old market.
Jenipher Banda and Fatiness Mvula told Breeze News that the Council has not collected the garbage from the dumping site for over a month now.
Mrs. Banda says that the smell that is coming out from the garbage site is very bad adding that the situation could lead to outbreak of diseases.
The duo appealed to the Council to be consistent in garbage collection to avoid the outbreak of waterborne diseases especially during the rainy season.
And when contacted for a comment, Acting Chadiza District Council Secretary Michael Ngulube says the truck which is used to collect garbage has broken down resulting into delays in collecting garbage at the market.
Mr Ngulube says that the Council will now be using a tractor to collect the refuse.
He called on the marketeers not to worry as all the garbage that has accumulated in the market would be removed.
