UNIP pulls out from Kakumbi ward by-election

The United National Independence Party UNIP has pulled out from the Kakumbi local government by-election slated for August 6.
UNIP Provincial Chairperson, Donald Sakala has confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Sakala says that UNIP decided to carry out an assessment of the by-election in Kakumbi and resolved not to participate but work on rebuilding the party in the ward for 2016 elections.
He however, stated that this does not mean that the former ruling party will not participate in any other by-election.
Mr. Sakala maintained that UNIP continues to enjoy support and will participate in future by-elections.
Meanwhile the PF, Patriotic Front Party has accused the MMD in Mambwe district of misleading people by suggesting that the MMD and PF are fielding one candidate in the Kukumbi Ward by- election.
PF Provincial Chairperson, Atany Mwamba says that the ruling party has its own candidate, Isaiah Malipita, who will contest the seat.
And Mr. Mwamba says that PF is gaining ground in Kakumbi ward following the defection of more than 60 people yesterday from MMD to PF.
