Upgrading works on the Great East road from Luangwa to Mwami border are expected to start in the next three weeks.
Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone has confirmed this to Breeze News, stating that a contractor to carry out the works has already been picked.
Mr. Sichone says that the contractor is currently in the process of mobilizing equipment to start upgrading the tarmac.
He says that he is delighted that this stretch of the Great East Road will finally be worked because it has claimed a lot of lives through road traffic accidents.
Meanwhile Mr. Sichone has revealed that government has decided to upgrade the Katete-Msoro road to bitumen status.
And the provincial minister has expressed satisfaction on the tarring works being carried out by Sable Construction Company on the Chipata-Mfuwe road.
He says that works on the Chipata-Mfuwe road will be completed soon as the contractor is now working on the final stretch of the road.
