United Party for National Development, UPND national chairperson for youth and sports development, Michael Chuzu, says the move by the party provincial leadership in Eastern Province to suspend the party’s youth wing of Chipata district is not in order.
Mr. Chuzu told Breeze News by phone from Lusaka, that a lot of unhappy UPND members in other districts have been calling him to express displeasure over the move.
He explained that such a move should have been taken by the Chipata district committee and not the provincial committee.
Mr. Chunzu emphasized that suspending the youth wing will not help the party grow, adding that the leadership, should have instead, talked to the youths in order to consolidate the harmony in the party.
He said that the provincial committee acted too fast and jumped the district committee, adding that as national youth chairperson, he has no powers to jump district and provincial committees on certain matters.
Mr. Chuzu says the move by the provincial committee is therefore null and void, as it has raised a lot of concern to other district committees in the province.
And when contacted for a comment, UPND provincial chairperson, Paul Thole, at first said he would comment on the matter later, before quickly changing that he has no comment.
