UPND doubts Electoral Commission of Zambia

The United Party for National Development says that it does not have full trust in ECZ, the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Provincial Campaign Coordinator, Andrew Banda says that this is because of the way the electoral body handled the issue of selecting the company, which printed ballot papers.

Speaking on Political Hour Programme on Breeze FM this morning, Mr. Banda says that UPND cannot understand why ECZ preferred to engage a company which was more expensive.

He was clarifying on an issue where UPND cadres have been blocking and inspecting ECZ trucks carrying election materials to some districts in the country.

Mr. Banda however, condemned the act but stated that ECZ has only itself to blame for the mistrust, which could have been avoided if a South African company was selected to print the ballot papers.

And the UPND says that the PF, Patriotic Front Party does not deserve another mandate in government because it has mismanaged the economy.

Mr. Banda says that only UPND deserves to rule the country after Thursday’s elections because it has a clear plan of how to improve the economy and the life of Zambians.

He charged that the rule of law has completely collapsed under the PF government with cadres encouraging violence to extent where they have taken over the operations at Kapata Bus Station and harassing members of opposition political parties.

Mr. Banda further noted that under the PF government, foreign debt has swelled to over 10 billion kwacha while some projects remain uncompleted.

He called on Zambians to vote for presidential candidate, Hakainde Hichilema stating that he has the ability to fulfil UPND’s ten point plan of managing the country to prosperity.
