The UPND has filed its petition in the Constitutional Court against the declaration of President Edgar Lungu as head of state in Thursday’s general elections.
UPND National Chairperson for Youth and Sports Development Michael Chuzu confirmed to Breeze News.
Mr. Chuzu says that the UPND will not accept that Mr. Lungu was duly elected president until the Constitution Court rules on the petition.
He says that the UPND is still concerned that ECZ, the Electoral Commission of Zambia did not address irregularities in the election.
The UPND had on Saturday demanded a complete recount of ballot papers for all constituencies in Lusaka, where it alleged had anomalies.
