UPND leader discourages Zambians on referendum

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has called on his supporters to ignore the referendum in tomorrow’s election.

Speaking during a Press Briefing in Kitwe yesterday, Mr. Hichilema told his supporters to concentrate on voting for UPND candidates.

And Mr. Hichilema expressed joy that the constitutional court had ruled that ministers were operating illegally and should pay back salaries, which they were getting from the time parliament was dissolved.

He charged that this and another court ruling allowing his party to hold a rally in Kitwe were indications to President Edgar Lungu that UPND will win tomorrow’s poll.

The UPND leader also promised to sort out the impasse between ZRA, the Zambia Review Authority and Post Newspapers over unpaid tax, one week after getting into power.

Meanwhile the Patriotic Front PF Party in Eastern Province has called on people to exercise their right to vote in tomorrow’s election.

Provincial Chairperson for Elections, Samuel Lugomo Phiri says easterners should ensure that they vote for President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Phiri charged that people in Eastern Province should not allow a situation, which happened last year where few people voted while other provinces recorded huge turnouts.
