UPND promises to prioritise agriculture sector

United Party for National Development, UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema, has told people of Chipata district that he will prioritise growth in the agricultural sector if elected republican President on August 11 this year.

Mr. Hichilema says that advancing the agricultural sector will help in ensuring that prices of food, such as mealie meal reduce to affordable levels in the country.

Mr. Hichilema bemoaned the low buying prices being offered currently to farmers by cotton and tobacco companies.

The UPND president also promised to ensure that free quality education is provided up to university level, ensure safe clean drinking water is provided to all Zambians and build dams to promote irrigation and livestock farming.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hichilema accused the PF government of failing to run the country’s economy.

And speaking at the same rally, Mr. Hichilema’s running mate, Geoffrey Bwalwa Mwamba, urged people of Chipata and the entire province to vote for UPND candidates in this year’s general elections if the country’s economy is to be resuscitated.

And Sinda Constituency UPND aspiring candidate, who is also a member of the presidential campaign team, Levy Ngoma described as lies, statements by the PF that Eastern Province is its stronghold.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nevers Mumba says that this is the last year for PF and President Edgar Lungu to be in power.

Dr. Mumba maintained that he is president of MMD, adding that UPND through its president, Hakainde Hichilema offers the best solutions to the current economic situation.
