People living in Chief Chikuwe’s area in Chipata are appealing to government to upgrade Mzeyi Clinic into a hospital.
Area Foundation Chairperson Tyson Banda told Breeze News in an interview that the clinic attends to over 100 patients on a daily bases.
Mr. Banda indicated that the clinic has over 40 thousand people within its catchment area, which makes it qualify to be a hospital.
Meanwhile Mr. Banda has asked government to upgrade one of the schools into a day secondary as most girls in boarding drop out due to pregnancies.
He complained that parents are unhappy because most of their daughters in boarding schools fall victim to men.
Mr. Banda lamented that the area also lacks security system and needs a police post, especially at Kalichero.
He stated that local people are willing to assist in whatever area to facilitate development.
