Vubwi District acquires 1,000 doses of rabies vaccines.

The Veterinary Department in Vubwi District has acquired 1,000 doses of rabies vaccines.
This is in line with government policy for all districts in Eastern Province to increase efforts in preventing the spread of rabies outbreak, which has claimed four lives this year.
In an interview with Breeze News, District Veterinary Officer Richard Banda explained that the department has been overwhelmed with complaints from the community in Vubwi from dog bites.
Dr. Banda however, expressed hope that with the procurement of vaccines, the situation will be quickly mitigated.
He further revealed that 14,000 birds in Vubwi will be vaccinated against New Castle disease.
Dr. Banda, however, observed that there is need to increase the doses of vaccines, stating that the bird population in the district is high.
Meanwhile, 44 farmers from 11 cooperatives in Vubwi District who are expected to receive marching grants from the department have begun training.
