Water shortage hits parts of Chipata

Erratic water supply has hit Kapata Township in Chipata District for the past three days.

This has angered some residents who have demanded for an explanation from Eastern Water and Sewerage Company.

Speaking to Breeze News one of the residents Sinoya Mwale says people cannot go for three days without water and not get any explanation from the utility company on what is has caused the water crisis.

But when contacted for a comment, Eastern Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Lytone Kanowa acknowledged the situation saying this is because of damaged water pipe at Lutembwe Dam One.

Mr. Kanowa says the Company has not yet established the extent of damage but workers are on site working on the problem.

He has urged the customers to stay calm as the utility company is doing everything possible to rectify the problem.
