Breeze FM has unearthed a scam in which some women clubs in Petauke district have sold farm implements given to them by government.
A Budget Tracking Team, which visited the women clubs, found that some members of one of the women clubs had sold one plough out of the two that were given by the Ministry of Gender and Child Development.
The members from the club revealed that their colleagues had sold the one plough without consulting others.
They further indicated that operations of the club had almost ground to a halt because some senior members were claiming family ownership of the clubs.
The women complained that they had never seen the 5,000 Kwacha which government gave to the club and were not sure about the price of the two heads of cattle, which the club bought.
They have appealed to Ministry of Gender and Child Development to visit the area to get the truth of what is happening at the club.
Efforts to get a comment from the named senior members accused of mismanaging the club failed as they were reported to be in Lusaka.
And Ongolwe Ward Councillor, Roy Tembo expressed disappointment with the development and promised to get to the bottom of the matter.
