Workers engaged to build Chipata District hospital complain of working under difficult conditions.

Workers contracted to work on Chipata District Hospital have expressed concern over poor working conditions they are being subjected to.
The workers revealed that the contractor had promised government officers when they visited the construction site that they would give the workers protective clothes, but nothing has been done to date.
They further complained that those that have been injured on site, or fallen ill have been laid off and replaced with other workers without any form of compensation.
The workers appealed to government to look into their plight so that the working conditions are improved.
A check by Breeze News found that all the workers on site were not putting on any form of protective gear.
And when contacted for comment, District Medical Officer, Davy Simwaba, says that some public health officers will be sent to the construction site to follow up on the concerns raised.
