Workers engaged to build Lundazi district hospital go 10 months without salaries.

Merit Engineering Company workers in Lundazi district have allegedly gone for 10 months without being paid salaries.
Some of the workers for the company, which was hired to build Lundazi District Hospital, told Breeze News that the company has not been paying them for the past 10 months.
Taimon Kanyinji and Jacob Chirwa who are working as security guards stated that works at the new hospital have stalled as bricklayers and casual workers have stopped reporting for work.
The duo revealed that the construction firm owes them over 75,000 Kwacha for the 10 months they have not been paid.
And Lundazi District Commissioner, Janet Palukani expressed sadness at the development and wondered why the company could let its workers go for many months without paying them.
Mrs. Palukani indicated that her office will engage Merit Engineering Company over the matter.
But when contacted for comment, the company’s director, John Musonda dismissed claims by the workers that they have not been paid for 10 months.
