About three hundred registrations have been recorded by ZRA, the Zambia Revenue Authority after the withholding tax campaign was launched in Eastern Province last month.
Provincial Manager, Brian Lukwesa told Breeze News that the response so far has been overwhelming despite various concerns raised by stakeholders.
Mr. Lukwesa described the campaign as a success and urged other landlords who have not yet registered to do so, before they are caught.
Mr. Lukwesa says that the department will be working closely with councils and real estate agencies to establish which properties in the Province are on rent.
He warned that the Authority has all the legal rights to seize property of those defaulting to pay the tax.
Recently, government came under attack from various sectors for strictly enforcing the tax.
Under the withholding tax, all tenants are expected to deduct ten per cent of their gross rentals on a monthly basis.
