Zamtel offices in Chipata closed for non-payment of levies for the past two years.

Zamtel offices in Chipata were on Friday closed indefinitely by the Chipata Municipal Council due to non-payment of levies for the past two years.
Acting Town Clerk, Kaonga Namenda says that the telecommunication company owes the local authority about 2, 500 Kwacha.
Mr. Namenda says that Zamtel, who acknowledged that they were at fault, promised to pay by tomorrow.
The acting town clerk was quick to add that the move was not done to attack Zamtel, adding that 3 bars were also closed due to non-payment of the fees.
Mr Namenda appealed to all businesses operating in the district to ensure that they pay all levies owed before 2014.
Efforts to get a comment from Zamtel Management failed, by News time.
