ZEMA defers the approval of a mineral exploration project in Nyimba district.

The Zambia Environmental Management Agency ZEMA has deferred the approval of a mineral exploration project in Nyimba district.

ZEMA Principal Communications Officer, Ireen Chipili has confirmed the development to Breeze News in a statement.

Mrs. Chipili says that the project is among 10 other projects across the country whose approval has also been differed to enable ZEMA carry out further verification and provision of more information over the projects.

The mineral exploration project in Nyimba district is to be carried out by Zambian Zhengyuan Mining Company Limited in Chief Ndake’s area.

Ms. Chipili states that the Agency’s decision can be withdrawn without notice if a developer fails to comply with the laid down conditions and commitments.

Last week, ZEMA approved 53 projects from across the country and rejected one after it conducted site verification inspections.
