ZESCO has not reduced electricity tariffs despite a presidential directive.

The Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation ZESCO has not reduced electricity tariffs despite a presidential directive.
Customers who bought electricity units yesterday in Chipata were shocked to find that the power company is charging the high tariffs.
President Edgar Lungu last week directed the power company to reverse the upward adjustment of the tariffs after a national outcry.
And ZESCO Public Relations Officer, Henry Kapata confirmed that the power company had not reduced the tariffs.
Mr. Kapata told Breeze News, that following the presidential directive, the company is now waiting for Energy Minister, Dora Siliya to issue a statement on the matter.
He stated that the minister was expected to issue the statement yesterday or today so that ZESCO can be guided on how best to proceed on the matter.
