Zimbabwe’s Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Engineer Walter Muzembi is pleased with Malawi’s President Joyce Banda for committing herself towards enforcing the call for the implementation of a SADC Univisa.
Dr. Muzembi expressed gratitude that President Banda who is also chairperson for SADC, Southern Africa Development Committee Chairperson, committed herself to taking the issue of the SADC Visa to an implementation level.
Zambezi FM reports from Livingstone that Dr. Muzembi was speaking to the media adding that President Banda assured that whatever huddles have been on the way of implementation will be cleared during her tenure of office as SADC Chairperson.
He commended President Banda for making a positive pronouncement describing the move as planting a major policy statement expected of her office, and further expressed confidence that the move could be implemented during her tenure of office.
Dr. Muzembi said president Banda should utilise her tenure to advance the process irrevocably to another stage so that when President Robert Mugabe, who is next in the line to take the SADC top seat, it can then be sealed.
The Malawian President delivered the SADC voice on the Univisa at the Ministerial Roundtable Meeting during the on-going UNWTO General Assembly at Elephant Hills Hotel.
During the signing of the tripartite hosting agreement between Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, Zambia’s President Michael Sata and UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai on 29 May 2012, President Sata called for the removal of travel impediments that are currently disturbing the smooth flow of tourists within African countries.
